Overlooking the East Sea, Aewol Port is a bustling harbour on the north coast of Jeju Island. It’s surrounded by picturesque beaches and scenic driving routes that hug the spectacular coastline and boasts inviting eateries serving authentic Korean cuisine.
Watch the vessels coming and going from Aewol Port or cast a fishing line to see what’s biting in the waters of the East Sea. A scenic walking trail winds its way above the port, with panoramic views on offer from its stone observation tower. The port is also an ideal destination for watching the sunset.
If you want to swim, you can visit Gwakji Gwamul Beach, which is also a popular destination for harvesting clams. At one end of the beach is an open-air spring bath where you can rinse the saltwater off, with changing rooms available in the Yongcheonsu Nocheontang bathhouse.
Getting there
Aewol Port is around one hour by bus from the centre of Jeju or two hours from Jeju International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Asia. Buses are the main means of getting around the area, although the port can be explored on foot.
