Serving as the capital of Phu Yen, Tuy Hoa is a lively coastal city where the Ba River meets the East Vietnam Sea. It’s an important transportation hub for the towns and villages of the Central Highlands while it also boasts a golden sweep of sand that is blissfully crowd-free.
Things to do in Tuy Hoa
Extending along the length of the town is Tuy Hoa Beach, a golden stretch of sand where you can sunbathe or swim in the warm waters of the East Vietnam Sea. It provides an idyllic setting for long strolls, with thousands of crabs scuttling in and out of the water. Further north is Long Thuy Beach, which is backed by a grove of coconut palms.
One of Tuy Hoa’s most important Buddhist destinations is the Thanh Luong Pagoda, which is home to a seven-metre-high statue of Quan Am. In addition to its infinity lake and meditation hall, the complex features a temple that is beautifully decorated with coral and coconut shells. Also on site is a lotus pond that flowers during the summer months.
If you want to stretch your legs, head to Ho Son Lake, which was established in 2019 to assist with flood control and the impacts of climate change. It’s now an attractive recreational destination with flowing pathways, arched bridges and palm-studded lawns. Ho Son Lake is a popular place to stroll in the cool of the evening while admiring the sunset is reflected in the water.
