Things to do in Tai'an Township
Also known as Old Street, Xishuikeng Tofu Street is lined with beautifully restored shops and townhouses. Many have been repurposed as cosy restaurants where you can enjoy delicious dishes featuring handmade tofu, a local specialty.
Developed by the Japanese in the 1800s, Tai'an Hot Spring Village is dotted with family-run hotels and resorts where you can soak in mineral-rich water. The sodium hydrogen carbonate and will leave your skin feeling silky soft and is also great for soothing aching joints and muscles.
Shei-Pa National Park occupies more than 760 square kilometres and protects a diverse ecosystem of alpine forests, rocky peaks and crystalline rivers. The park is laced with scenic hiking routes, ranging from family-friendly trails to full-day circuits. Serious hikers can summit Hsuehshan and Dabajian Mountains, the park’s signature peaks. Often cloaked in mist and fog, Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area is another hiking destination where you can marvel at the 30-metre-tall Guanwu Waterfall and centuries-old trees.

Getting around Tai'an Township
Tai-an Township is located in Miaoli County, a two-hour drive from Taichung City. Rental cars offer the freedom to explore Tai-an Township and Miaoli County at your own pace. Local buses are also an option. Taichung International Airport is a 1.5-hour drive away.
