Located on the banks of the Bällstaviken to the north-west of Stockholm, Sundbyberg is one of the Swedish capital’s oldest satellite towns. Art enthusiasts shouldn’t miss a visit to the Marabouparken Art Gallery, where you’ll find modern paintings and sculptures on the site of a historic farm. It occupies a former cocoa laboratory building designed by the renowned Swedish architect Artur von Schmalensee, as well as a contemporary underground addition. Want to stretch your legs? Enjoy a stroll around Råstasjön, a picturesque lake that is connected via a small stream to Lötsjön. A two-kilometre-long promenade rings its shores and offers sightings of native birdlife. Adjacent to the lake is Friends Arena, the biggest stadium in Scandinavia and the home ground for Sweden’s national soccer team.
Getting around Sundbyberg
Sundbyberg is 15 minutes' drive from the centre of Stockholm and 30 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Both trains and trams connect to the Sundbyberg Station and buses travel throughout the town. The centre of Sundbyberg can easily be explored on foot.
