Saebo is a tiny village set on the banks of Hjørundfjord and surrounded by snow-dusted mountains. A picturesque marina and a constellation of cosy cafes, restaurants and pubs give the village a lively feel. Kayak rentals are a fun way to explore the fjord and take in the views from a different perspective.
Ride the ferry across the fjord to Trandal, a tiny village accessible only by boat. Walk along the scenic trails and enjoy lunch at the waterside pub. In summer, the pub hosts live music complemented by spectacular mountain views.
Saebo is an ideal base to hike in the Sunnmøre Alps and the Bondalen Valley. Trails wind through the mountains and take you up famous peaks like Slogen, Skårsalen and Saksa. The terrain can be steep and challenging, but the views are worth it. In winter, Saebo transforms into a hub for ski touring. The Sunnmøre Alps can be avalanche-prone so it’s best to hire a ski guide in winter.
