Swaying palm trees and blue-and-white fishing boats give Rincon de la Victoria create a picturesque atmosphere. Roll out your towel under the shade of a thatched umbrella and dine at “chiringuito” fish restaurants overlooking the promenade. The summer months bring a constant stream of festivals to Rincon de la Victoria. The city springs to life with music, food stalls and fireworks.
Follow the coastal trail to the nearby fishing village of La Cala. Parts of the trail cut through the cliffsides and take you through rocky tunnels. Benagalbon, a picturesque village just inland from Rincon de la Victoria, is another beautiful walk.
Descend into Cueva del Tesoro and discover luminous pools of water and whimsical rock formations. Boardwalks and staircases wind through the underwater marine cavern, which is called “Treasure Cave” in English. Parts of the cave are decorated with paintings from the Palaeolithic and Bronze Ages.
Enjoy sweeping views over the coast from Bezmiliana Castle. It was built in the 18th century to defend the city from pirate attacks. Learn about the colourful history of the castle at the on-site museum and visit the small art gallery.
Getting around Rincón de la Victoria
Rincon de la Victoria is in Andalusia, a 20-minute drive from Malaga and 40 minutes by bus. You don’t need a car, but they do offer the freedom to explore Andalusia at your own pace. Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is a 30-minute drive away.
