Originally founded in 470 BC as “Pixous”, Policastro Bussention is a peaceful hamlet on the coast of Campania. It’s renowned for its pebbly beaches and crystal clear waters while providing easy access to the cultural and natural landscapes of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.
Spend your days relaxing on the pebbly shores of the Marina di Policastro, where you’ll find umbrellas and sun loungers for rent. You can refresh with a swim in the Tyrrhenian Sea or take advantage of the water sports on offer. Backing the beach are a handful of lidos serving drinks and meals.
Sprawling north-west of Policastro Bussentino is Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, which encompasses 1,810 square kilometres of rugged mountains, coastal buttresses and ancient ruins. You can explore along the extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails while keeping your eyes peeled for martens, badgers and peregrine falcons.
