Planica is a snow-dusted alpine valley and one of the top ski jumping destinations in Europe. The action unfolds at the Nordic Centre Planica, an ultra-modern facility with multiple ski jumping hills.
Competitions and tournaments held at the centre attract top ski jumping athletes from around the world. Watch professional skiers defy gravity from the viewing platforms and learn more about the history of the extreme sport at the Planica Museum. Strap into the ski jump simulator to experience the thrill for yourself.
While ski jumping is reserved for the experts, Nordic Centre Planica offers beautiful cross-country skiing tracks open to the public. In neighbouring Kranjska Gora ski resort, you can explore more than 20 kilometres of groomed slopes in the Julian Alps.
In the summer, the centre transforms one of its longest ski jumping hills into an exhilarating zipline. The ride lasts 40 seconds and features a vertical drop of more than 200 metres, making it one of the steepest ziplines in the world.
Getting there
Planica is located in northwestern Slovenia, a one-hour drive from Ljubljana and Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Rental cars are an easy way to visit Planica. Kranjska Gora is a 10-minute drive away.
