Portoroz, or Port of the Roses in English, is an upscale resort on the Adriatic coast. The town has been attracting holidaymakers since the 19th century and is known for therapeutic treatments featuring mud from the Secovlje salt pans. Spas and wellness centres across town offer massages, facials and mud baths.
White pebble sand and crystalline water make Portorož Beach one of the best in Slovenia. Rent a deckchair and bask in the sun or enjoy a picnic on the grassy foreshore. Wooden piers jut into the Adriatic Sea and are great for viewing the sunset. The 15th-century Church of St. Bernardin is perched on a hilltop and commands sweeping views over the town and the shimmering Adriatic Sea.
Forma Viva is set on the Seča Peninsula and is dotted with more than 100 stone sculptures. Stroll around the gardens and enjoy spectacular views over Portoroz and the Bay of Piran. From here, it’s a short walk to the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, where you can learn about the centuries-old history of salt panning in Portoroz.
