The Pier in Sopot, regarded as Sopot Pier, is a prominent recreation hub and cultural landmark situated in the centre of Sopot Beach in the seaside town of Sopot, Poland. Sopot Pier serves as the longest wooden pier in Europe, jutting out more than 500 metres into the Baltic sea. The area consists of the pier itself as well as the adjoining Spa Square beachfront that is regarded as a popular tourist destination.
Prominent attractions around the pier include a lighthouse equipped with an observation deck, an impressive fountain, a variety of cuisine options. Walking and sightseeing are popular activities along the pier which serves as a host for plentiful concerts, boat races and other entertainment events. Two of the most popular restaurants include the Amber Cafe and the Lagoon of Tastes.
A marina located adjacent to the pier provides for ferry transit between Sopot and Gdańsk or Gdynia. Sopot is also served by major roadway 468. Sopot Główny is the nearest railway station, located in the centre of the city.
The pier was originally developed in the late 1820s to a moderate length of 150 metres from which it was extended to 315 metres and finally to its current 511.5-metre length. The location serves as a prime spot for viewing both the World Sailing Championship and the Baltic Windsurfing Cup.
