Renowned for its thermal waters, Moravske Toplice is a Slovenian town in the picturesque Prekmurje region. It lies in the far north-east of the country, roughly equidistant from the borders with Austria and Hungary. Until 1983, it was known as “Moravci” and was referred to by Hungarians as “Alsomarac”.
Things to do in Moravske Toplice
Dominating the townscape is the soaring bell tower of the Evangelical Church, which was built atop a former manor house in 1925. In 1962, a nave was added when the manor was eventually demolished. Adjacent to the church is a leafy park with benches and a swing seat, as well as Moravske Toplice’s Visitor Information Centre. A short walk away is the contemporary Glasbena Fontana and Luna Park, which comes to life with amusement rides on summer evenings.
Golfers can enjoy a round at the Livada Golf Course, which boasts the longest fairway in Slovenia. It offers magnificent views across the rolling plains of Prekmurje from its greens, as well as practice facilities that include a driving range, putting and chipping greens. Aside from offering golf lessons, the club also features a well-stocked pro shop.
Adjacent to the Livada Golf Course is the Terme 3000, a family-friendly water park fed by thermal springs. The complex includes a range of mineral baths, pools and water slides, as well as Finnish saunas and an icy plunge pool. You can rejuvenate in the infrared sauna with its Himalayan salt wall or relax on one of the pillows filled with locally sourced buckwheat hulls.
