Escape to the mountains and reconnect with nature in Miryang. The city is set in the Yeongnam Alps and surrounded by centuries-old temples and pavilions. Things to do in Miryang
Lace up your hiking boots and explore Eoreumgol, a high-altitude valley that stays cool throughout the year. Also known as Ice Valley, the area is set on the slopes of Cheonhwangsan Mountain. Hike the scenic trails and fill up your water bottle from the crystal-clear streams that flow through the valley.
The beautiful Yeongnamlu pavilion transports you back in time to the Joseon Dynasty. The pavilion is perched on a clifftop overlooking the Miryang River and is a cultural treasure. It’s one of Korea’s three great pavilions and welcomes you with a soaring swallowtail roof and beautiful stone-carved calligraphy.
Hike up the slopes of Jaeyaksan Mountain to Pyochungsa, a picturesque Korean Buddhist temple that dates back to the 6th century. It’s been rebuilt several times over the centuries but retains its historic allure. Furls of incense fill the air and add to the serene atmosphere. Visit in autumn to see the temple surrounded by a sea of fiery fall foliage, or come in winter to see it transform into a snow-dusted wonderland.
Learn about local history, culture and traditions at the Miryang City Museum. Exhibits cover everything from the Korean Independence Movement to ancient fossils and artefacts found in the region.
