Get off the beaten track and discover lush wetlands, flower-strewn mountains and bubbling hot springs in Changnyeong. Things to do in Changnyeong
Revitalise your mind and body in Bugok Oncheon, one of the top hot spring destinations in South Korea. The town is set at the foot of a forested mountain and is famous for its mineral-rich hot springs. High concentrations of sulphur will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, while the springs also work wonders on tired muscles.
Spot more than 180 bird species, including endangered Eurasian spoonbills and long-billed plovers, in the Upo Wetland. The area has incredible biodiversity and is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Work up a sweat on the hike up Hwawangsan Mountain. In spring, the mountain is carpeted in purple azaleas. From the 750-metre-high summit, you’ll get fantastic views over the Nakdong River Valley. You’ll also find scenic hiking trails in Biseulsan Natural Recreation Forest. Framed by rugged peaks, the park is beautiful year-round. Spring and summer showcase the wildflowers in full bloom while winter transforms the park into an icy wonderland.
Getting around Changnyeong
Rental cars offer the freedom to explore Changnyeong at your own pace, while buses are a fast and affordable way to get around the county. The county is a 40-minute drive from Daegu and 1.5 hours from Busan. Daegu International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
