Things to do in Minxiong Township
Fertile soil and a sun-drenched climate make Minxiong Township a prime destination for tropical fruit farming. Visit the Wanglaishan Pineapple Cultural Park to tour a working plantation and find out more about how the fruit is grown and harvested. Visit the gift shop to sample pineapple cake, juice, wine, vinegar and other products.
The nearby Minxiong Kumquat Tourist Factory offers a similar experience, only this time the focus is on the bite-sized citrus fruits. Tour the factory, check out exhibits on kumquat farming and enjoy a picnic in the gardens.
Enveloped in tree vines and branches, Liou's Ancient House is one of Taiwan’s most haunted destinations. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, exploring the ruins of the former manor house is a unique experience.
Minxiong Painted Wall is a short stroll from the main train station and celebrates the town’s love for cats. Take a photo in front of the colourful mural and walk around the neighbourhood to find more cat-themed street art. The area is dotted with cafes and restaurants where you can try local dishes like beef noodle soup and sticky rice dumplings.
Getting around Minxiong Township
Taxis are a fast and easy way to get around Minxiong Township, while parts of the town are pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. Trains run between Minxiong Station and Chiayi City in around 20 minutes. From Chiayi, you can ride the narrow-gauge train to the Alishan National Scenic Area. Taichung International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
