Backed by the lagoons of the Valli di Comacchio, Lido di Spina is a laid-back beach resort in the Italian province of Ferrara. It boasts a wide strip of sand, a historic pine forest and peaceful streets, which are lined with low-rise villas built by well-known architects.
Spend your days relaxing on the Spiaggia Lido di Spina, which is dotted with thatched beach umbrellas and sun loungers for rent. In addition to chiringuito beach bars, there are a handful of restaurants where you can dine throughout the day. Backing the beach is a sandy promenade, which connects south to the Lago di Spina.
Art enthusiasts can visit Casa Museo Remo Brindisi, which occupies a villa once home to the contemporary painter. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, the 1970s building houses exhibitions of painting, sculpture and graphic art, with significant works by Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali and Amedeo Modigliani on display.
Getting there
Lido di Spina is around 30 minutes’ drive from Ravenna and an hour from Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe and North Africa. Buses connect to Lido di Spina and the resort is small enough to explore on foot.
