Affectionately known as “Mima”, Milano Marittima is a seaside village on Italy’s sun-drenched Eastern Riviera. It centres around a lively downtown area filled with designer boutiques and cafes while being backed by a preserved pine forest.
Spend your days relaxing on one of Milano Marittima’s many beaches, which offer direct access to the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Kick back beneath the orange umbrellas of Papeete Beach or coincide your visit with one of the summer DJ beach parties. A scenic hiking trail leads through the village’s pine forest and is dotted with information boards detailing the resident wildlife.
Need a retail fix? Head to Viale Matteotti, which is lined by Italian fashion brands and international retailers such as Adidas, Burberry and Alexander McQueen. In the evening, don’t miss the colourfully illuminated fountain at the heart of Rotonda Primo Maggio, a piazza-style roundabout featuring seasonal flowerbeds and sculptures.
Getting there
Milano Marittima is around 30 minutes’ drive from Ravenna and just over an hour from Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Buses connect to Milano Marittima and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
