Nestled in the south-west of the Peloponnese, Kompoi is a traditional village near the popular beach of Peroulia and the ancient town of Koroni. It’s a charming base for discovering the region’s crumbling castle ruins and centuries-old churches, as well as the local Messinian cuisine.
Just a stone’s throw from Kompoi is picturesque Peroulia Beach, which features golden sands lapped by the clear waters of the Ionian Sea. There are comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent, as well as a beachfront restaurant serving freshly caught seafood and traditional Messinian dishes.
Kompoi makes an ideal base for exploring ancient Koroni, a charming seaside town dominated by a Venetian-built castle. Admire the religious frescoes that decorate the interior of St. Eleistria Church, watch the boats coming and going from the Koroni Marina or enjoy a swim from the sands of Paralia Zagka.
Getting there
Kompoi is around 10 minutes’ drive from Koroni and an hour from Kalamata. Kalamata International Airport is 45 minutes away and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Renting a car is the most convenient way of accessing Kompoi and the village is compact enough to explore on foot.
