Stoupa is a charming seaside village set on the Peloponnese Peninsula and framed by the Taigetos Mountains. Sunbathe on sandy beaches, swim in the turquoise sea and enjoy seafood at traditional Greek tavernas.
The gold-sand beaches of Stoupa have featured in dozens of photo shoots and music videos. Kalogria Beach is a local favourite and is fringed by tamarisk trees with bright pink flowers. You can rent a sunlounger or lay down your towel on a patch of sand, while the crystalline water is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. A handful of laid-back tavernas and beach bars serve cold drinks and ocean-fresh seafood. Neighbouring Stoupa Beach has a quieter feel and is popular with families.
Whether you’re looking for a simple meal or full table service, Stoupa doesn’t disappoint. Family-run restaurants will tantalise you with fluffy pita bread, colourful salads and souvlakis stuffed with grilled meat. Wash down your meal with a glass of ouzo, an anise-flavoured aperitif best enjoyed with ice and a slice of lemon.
