Nestled to the south of Kawaguchiko Lake, Kawaguchiko Station is a gateway to the Fuji Five Lakes region. It was originally opened in 1950 and is now often depicted in photos with the iconic Mount Fuji in the backdrop.
After disembarking from Kawaguchiko Station, visit one of the hot spring baths that surround Kawaguchiko Lake or stroll along the Momiji Tunnel on the northern shores. Don’t miss the Kawaguchiko Music Forest, a museum dedicated to automatic musical instruments and surrounded by European-style gardens.
Travelling with kids? Head to the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park at the base of Mount Fuji to enjoy the anime-themed rides and its world-record-breaking roller coaster. Kawaguchiko Station can also be used as an access point for trekking to the summit of Mount Fuji, with most beginning their ascent from the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station.
Getting there
Kawaguchiko Station can be accessed along the Fujikyu Railway Line from Otsuki, with trains connecting to Tokyo. Haneda International Airport is just under three hours by train from Kawaguchiko.
