Delight in the beauty of Baotu Spring considered the most scenic of Jinan’s natural ponds. Since ancient times, cascading water has spilt elegantly from the underground cave inspiring countless poems. Enjoy a tea brewed with the spring’s pure water at the famous Wangheting Teahouse.
Do you consider yourself a history buff? Don’t miss a trip to the Shandong Provincial Museum where you can explore an enormous collection of historical relics and natural treasures. Highlights include oracle bones, Han tomb murals, Qi and Lu Kingdom pottery and clothing worn by the Kon clan.
Marvel at a multitude of Buddha statues chiseled into the face of Thousand Buddha Mountain. Dating back to the early Sui dynasty, the mountain is home to the oldest Xīnguóchán Temple. Explore hundreds of Buddha statues, pavilions and caves spread throughout the park and walk along the mountain ridge for views over Jinan.
Getting around Jinan
Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport is a 30-minute taxi or 1.5-hour bus ride from downtown Jinan. Trains arrive from Beijing within 1.5 hours and Shanghai within 3.5 hours. Once in Jinan, rental cars and buses are the best way to get around.
