Things to do in Gulfport
Visit the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies to get an up-close look at native marine wildlife. Book a behind-the-scenes tour, participate in the dolphin meet and greet program or stay for the afternoon and watch a dolphin and sea lion performance.
If you’re travelling with children, check out the Lynn Meadows Discovery Centre, located in a 1915 schoolhouse. Learn about different cultures in the Celebrate the World We Share exhibit, hop on the train at Dolan Avenue Depot or create a piece of artwork in the Art Knows Anything Goes studio.
Cool off at the Gulf Islands Water Park, located north of Interstate 10. Grab a raft and float down the lazy river, go for a ride on one of the thrilling water slides and challenge your friends in a race to the bottom of the Riptide Racer.
Visit the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum to see elaborate train-model sets. Explore the indoor and outdoor exhibits that include the largest LEGO railroad display in the state, take a ride on one of the full-size trains and don’t miss the Jurassic Park and Futurama displays.
Getting around Gulfport
Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is located a 15-minute drive from Gulfport, which has a walkable harbour district and taxis for travelling further afield. Hiring a car is the best way to explore the surrounding region.
