On the doorstep of Vienna, Gerasdorf bei Wien is a historic town in the state of Lower Austria. It was first mentioned around 1200 and evolved to become a bustling market town. Today, Gerasdorf bei Wien is home to one of the largest shopping malls in Austria, the G3 Shopping Ressort Gerasdorf.

On the northern edge of town is the Gerasdorfer Badeteich, a sparkling lake popular with swimmers in the summer months. You can stroll along its rocky beaches or explore the adjacent meadow that provides a habitat for squirrels. On the other side of Gerasdorf bei Wien is the Golf Club Wien-Süßenbrunn, which features an 18-hole links course and Vienna's largest driving range.
Gerasdorf bei Wien makes a good base for visiting Burg Kreuzenstein, a fairytale-like castle originally constructed in the 12th century. It was rebuilt in the 19th century by Count Nepomuk Wilczek using medieval structures from across Europe. Coincide your visit to the castle with one of its falconry shows and experience the atmosphere of a medieval watering hole at the Burgtaverne Kreuzenstein.
On the opposite side of the Danube River from Gerasdorf bei Wein is the Klosterneuburg Monastery, which was founded in the 12th century by Saint Leopold III. Join a guided tour to see the Baroque-style abbey church and the private chambers where Emperor Charles VI stayed. The monastery is also home to one of Austria’s oldest wineries.
