Backed by Biokovo Mountain, Drvenik is a charming coastal village on Croatia’s Makarska Riviera that was first mentioned in the 13th century. Fishing, goat herding and olive growing remain its most important industries today, alongside tourism thanks to its untouched beaches.
Spend your days relaxing on Drvenik’s pebbly cove, which overlooks the crystal clear bay of Donja Uvala. For a quieter beach experience, head west to Plaža Duba, a pine tree-backed stretch of shoreline that can be accessed along a rocky path. Also nearby is stunning Plaža Čiste, which boasts a small beach bar serving drinks and snacks.
Feeling active? A short hike inland from Drvenik will take you to the ruins of a centuries-old fortress and the old tombstone of Kostanic Greb. The route takes you through a picturesque olive grove and offers superb views across the Makarska Riviera.
Getting there
