Summer sees legions of sun-seekers descend on Deep Creek Lake. Watersports steal the spotlight, with swimming, kayaking, boating and jet skiing some of the most popular activities. Spring is the best time for white-water rafting down the Youghiogheny River, as well as admiring wildflowers in Swallow Falls State Park.

Getting there
Deep Creek Lake has tucked away in the north-west corner of Maryland, around four hours from Annapolis. Pittsburgh International is the closest airport, with the drive taking around two hours. Renting a car is the best way to explore the lake and nearby attractions.
