Forming part of Hungary’s Great Plain region, Cserkeszőlő is a charming spa village between the Tisa and Körös rivers. Its thermal waters were discovered in 1938 and a resort was established in 1954, with Cserkeszőlő now drawing visitors from across Hungary and beyond.
You can rejuvenate at the Cserkeszőlő Bath and Therapy Center, which features several thermal pools filled with mineral-rich waters. Relax in the weight bath and the cryo sauna or indulge in a massage treatment. Kids will love the gentle slides and the wave pool, as well as the giant bucket that spills water when full.
On the edge of Cserkeszőlő is the Szinyei Kastély és Borpince, a former castle and wine cellar that houses cultural exhibitions. The on-site cafe serves locally-grown wines, hot drinks and snacks while the landscaped gardens are perfect for a stroll. Nearby is the Tiszakürti Arboretum, which is planted with trees from around the globe.
Getting there
Cserkeszőlő is around a 1.5-hour drive from Budapest and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Regular buses connect to Cserkeszőlő and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
