Occupying a peninsula that juts into the Venetian Lagoon, Cavallino-Treporti is a relaxed commune in northern Italy. It’s one of the most popular seaside resorts in the country, thanks to its 15-kilometre-long stretch of sand and accessibility to the cultural attractions of Burano, Torcello and Murano.
Things to do in Cavallino Treporti
History buffs shouldn’t miss a visit to the Battery Vettor Pisani, which was originally constructed in the lead-up to World War I. It was one of the first structures built by the Italian military using reinforced concrete and has been brought back to life under the hands of architect Andrea Simionato. It now houses a military museum where artefacts from the Great War are exhibited.
Stretching along the Mediterranean coast of Cavallino-Treporti is an endless string of beaches where you can swim and sunbathe in the warmer months. Kick back on the sands of Spiaggia Di Punta Sabbioni, relax beneath a beach umbrella on Spiaggia di Ca' Vio or enjoy the water sports on offer at Spiaggia del Faro.
Travelling with kids? Be sure to spend a day at Aquamarina Park, which is home to several swimming pools, thrilling water slides and children’s play areas. Young kids can let loose at the Fantastic Castle while parents can relax in the jacuzzi or do laps in the Olympic pool. Food, drinks and gelato are available throughout the day from the on-site eateries.
