Originally built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Cape Town Stadium is 55,000-seat sporting arena nestled on the picturesque Cape Town waterfront overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean. The stadium is home to the Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City Premier Soccer League teams and also hosts international Rugby Union and Rugby Sevens games.
Along with premier sporting events, Cape Town Stadium hosts live music concerts, with past acts including Bon Jovi, One Direction, Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If you can’t make one of the sporting or music events, you can join a guided tour of the stadium, which highlights the modern architecture and fascinating history.
Near the stadium you’ll find a stunning expanse of verdant nature, wide-open green spaces and indigenous Cape Town flora species at Green Point Park. You can also easily combine a visit to the stadium with The Cape Wheel and Two Oceans Aquarium.
