While Bergen aan Zee has been inspiring artists since the 1600s, the town shot to fame in the early 20th century when it emerged as a hotspot for Expressionists and Cubists. In the nearby town of Bergen, Museum Kranenburgh showcases works by masters such as Leo Gestel and Charley Toorop.
