Ayala Center is a 210,000 square metres shopping mall located in the Cebu Business Park in Cebu, Philippines. It is the first Ayala Shopping Center located outside of Metro Manila.
Ayala Center is incredibly popular, welcoming over 85,000 visitors to its 680 plus shops on any given day, almost doubling in size on weekends. The Center is made up of a four-level retail complex which includes “The Terraces”; a busy food and beverage area developed on a lagoon area offering attractive views over the water. The rest of the complex comprises several malls, each with its own shopping and restaurant arcades including cinemas, several hotels, three department stores and the Ayala Museum which showcases permanent displays and exhibits about Philippine history. It is also home to the Ceramics Study Centre, housing more than 2,000 ceramic objects showcasing Chinese potters and over 700 publication outlining the art and history of ceramics.
The Ayala MRT Station serves the area as well as taxis and local jeepneys, which can be flagged down in the street. Disembarking from the colourful, iconic jeepney is simply a question of tapping on the vehicle’s roof.
The Ayala Center development had originally begun with a number of separate shopping arcades. Owned by Ayala Malls and opened in 1994, it gradually expanded to become the popular shopping area it is today.
