Nestled among rolling hills and rugged mountain peaks, Axams immerses you in the natural beauty of Austria. The postcard-perfect village is perched on a plateau and commands sweeping views over the Inntal Valley.
In summer, Axams is a prime destination for alpine hiking and mountain biking. Trails wind through the mountains and take you along rocky ridges and through wildflower-filled meadows. The family-friendly hike up to Jausenstation Schafalm takes around 10 minutes and ends at a charming wooden restaurant.
Winter sees Axamer Lizum Ski Resort dusted in snow and fresh powder, where skiers love speeding down the long descents and exhilarating runs. After a day on the slopes, warm up with roasted chestnuts and mulled wine at a cosy tavern. Local specialties include crispy veal schnitzels, “knödel” boiled dumplings and spiced potato goulash. For dessert, indulge in a slab of Viennese apple strudel or wash down your meal with a glass of Stiegl lager.
