Framed by the Taurus Mountains, the Antalya Coast stretches along the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey’s south-east. It centres around the lively resort city of Antalya and its yacht-filled harbour and is surrounded by the beautiful beaches of the Turkish Riviera.
Spend a day exploring the cobblestoned Old Town of Antalya, which is clustered with beautifully restored whitewashed buildings and red-roofed mansions. Admire the exquisite tilework of the 18th-century Tekeli Mehmet Pasa Mosque and stroll around the picturesque harbour, then delve into the region’s ancient past at the Antalya Museum.
To the east of Antalya is Lara Beach, a popular stretch of golden sand where you can swim and sunbathe in the warmer months. Combine your visit with a stop at the nearby Düden Waterfalls, which plunge off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea. On the opposite end of the Antalya Coast is Konyaaltı Beach, which offers magnificent views of the Beydağları Mountains.
Getting there
Antalya Airport is a 15-minute drive from the centre of Antalya and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses are the main means of getting around the Antalya Coast and connect both of its major beaches with the city centre.
