Nestled between two creeks, Ağva is a popular beachside resort in the Şile district of Istanbul. It lies on what was once known as Bithynia, an ancient kingdom that existed from the 3rd to 1st centuries BC, and later became known for its production of hand-woven Şile cloth. Up until the 1950s, the surrounding woodlands provided an important source of charcoal for Istanbul.

If you’re travelling with kids, don’t miss the Corn Maze İstanbul, which is located just inland from Ağva. It centres around an impressive labyrinth and features children’s play areas and a relaxing cafe. Tractor and ATV rides are available and family-friendly workshops are held throughout the year. Coincide your visit with the summertime to see the sunflower field in bloom.
