Wuxi is a charming town situated on Taihu Lake in the Jiangsu province of China, nestled between the metropolitan areas of Changzhou and Suzhou. The area is a frontrunner in modern Chinese commerce with leading industrial parks and manufacturing plants. The lakefront town is also a prominent tourist attraction speckled in lavish cultural gardens, hills and sculptures.
The most notable attraction of Wuxi is Taihu Lake on which it sits with its encompassing rock gardens and scenic areas including Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, Plum Garden Scenic Area, and Li Garden. The Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is one of the largest Buddha statues in China and one of the most visited manmade allures. Additional places of interest include the Chen Chi Museum and Shanjuan Cave.
Public transportation around Wuxi is primarily by bus or train. Wuxi is located on the Shanghai–Nanjing Intercity High-Speed Railway and offers numerous bus routes based out of the Wuxi Bus Station. Wuxi is served by the Sunan Shuofang International Airport situated 14 kilometres from the heart of downtown. There are also many connecting expressways and highways including the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway.
The reigning cultural and agricultural aspects of Wuxi are rooted in developments during the Ming dynasty. The city’s greatest commercial assets have historically been based in the textile industry.
