Visit Nanxi River Scenic Area and discover the scenery that gave rise to the art of landscape painting in China. Drift along the Nanxi River on a bamboo raft and see local tribes fishing on the banks while soaking up the splendid views of the surrounding rainforests and mountains.
Interested in the traditional culture? Immerse yourself amongst 1,200 years of history in the ancient farming village of Furong. Set in the lush mountains, this small village is home to many well-preserved Song dynasty homes. Wander through the narrow lanes where you can experience the daily life of the Chen clan who live and farm there.
Take a ferry along Oujiang River to Jiangxin Island, where you can marvel at the vibrant 16th-century Jiangxin Temple and seven-storey East Pagoda that dates back more than 1,000 years. For family fun, head to the island’s theme park to ride a Ferris wheel and enjoy views over Wenzhou.
Explore the magnificent peaks, caves and waterfalls of the Yandang Mountains. The UNESCO-listed World Geopark boasts eight scenic points. Hike to Longfeng Peaks at sunset and witness the 200-meter-high Dalong Qiu Waterfall, before venturing into the valley below to uncover the spiritual caves and temples of the Lingyan Rocks.
Getting around Wenzhou
Wenzhou Airport is connected to the city via taxi or bus. Regular trains arrive at Wenzhou Central Train Station from most major cities, including Shanghai. Buses, taxis and ferries are popular ways to explore Wenzhou.
