Set in the countryside and surrounded by emerald-green fields, Vandalorum is one of Sweden’s most prestigious modern art and design museums. Exhibits are housed in a series of architect-designed buildings inspired by traditional barns. Nordic art, photography, sculpture and design are just some of the works on display. The upscale restaurant serves traditional Swedish cuisine with a modern twist.
Apladalen is dotted with beautiful oak trees and historic 19th-century buildings. Scenic trails wind through the open-air museum and natural history park and take you past the beautifully restored buildings. Some are open and filled with traditional antiques and homewares. Kids will love petting the goats, rabbits and chickens at the miniature farm.
Varnamo is a gateway to Greater Mosse National Park, a sprawling marshland habitat dotted with pine trees and cranberry plants. Stop by the visitors centre to pick up a map and check out exhibits on the natural history of the park. Explore the family-friendly trails and enjoy lunch at one of the shady picnic sites.
