The Helix is an innovation-driven performing arts venue that hosts a mix of Irish and international productions. Expect to see anything from West End musicals and touring operas to tribute bands and family-friendly pantomimes. Since opening in 2002, The Helix has also welcomed prestigious groups such as the St Petersburg Ballet and Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra.
Housed in a striking circle-shaped building designed by Polish-born architect Andrzei Wejchert, the multi-purpose theatre is a local landmark. The venue’s architecture features granite and glass, with light streaming in through an enormous open skylight. The building was named after the helix-shaped staircase that spirals up from the main entrance.
The Helix houses several performance spaces, including the main concert hall, an intimate studio theatre, an exhibition space and several artists-in-residence studios. On the ground floor, Helix Café serves barista style coffee and homemade cakes.
