Nestled at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Teton Village is a small town near Wyoming’s border with Idaho. It serves what is one of the most expensive ski resorts in the United States, while it’s also a gateway to the hiking trails and world-renowned trout fishing of Grand Teton National Park.
Things to do in Teton Village
In the winter months, you can hit the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which is renowned for its challenging terrain and steep descents. Most of its runs, bowls and glades are suited to intermediate and experienced snow enthusiasts while its off-piste trails are only accessible to those with avalanche safety gear.
In the summer months, the mountains of Apres Vous and Rendezvous transform into a wonderland for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing, as well as attracting paragliders. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort also boasts a world-class Via Ferrata that can be explored with the help of knowledgeable guides. Sweeping views across Grand Teton National Park are on offer from the Aerial Tram, which connects to the Piste Mountain Bistro.
Sprawling north-east of Teton Village is the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, which lies on the edge of Phelps Lake within Grand Teton National Park. It encompasses sagebrush meadows and groves of fir, spruce and pine trees, as well as wetlands that provide habitat for migratory bird species. A network of hiking trails wind through the preserve and there’s a visitor centre offering magnificent views of the Teton Range.
Getting around Teton Village
Teton Village is around 35 minutes’ drive from Jackson Hole Airport, which has flights to destinations across the United States. The town of Jackson is just 20 minutes away and is connected to Teton Village by regular buses. A network of gondolas access the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
