Things to do in Tanjong Malim
While you’re in Tanjung Malim, make time to experience the many waterfalls dotted across the surrounding region, such as Strata Falls and Tibang Falls, which are both known for their immersive river treks. If you prefer to swim, you can head to Lon Waterfalls or Lubuk Kawah Fall. For a more adventurous experience, make Sungai Slim your top priority for water rafting.
If you’re hanging around the centre of Tanjung Malim, duck into Serang Art Hub to admire local artwork that includes paintings and drawings. Afterwards, visit the whitewashed Tanjong Malim Central Mosque, one of the oldest structures in town. It’s a short walk from the Muzium Pendidikan Nasional UPSI, a national museum with a fascinating collection of exhibits on Malaysian history that change each year.
Feeling hungry? There’s a wealth of enticing restaurants around town, such as Restaurant Ban Heong, which dishes up sumptuous Chinese cuisine, and Wangsar Seafood Restaurant, where you can indulge in Asian-style fish and crustaceans. Cheng Chee Wah is a bakery right around the corner, perfect for treats and light bites.
If you’ve got time for a day trip, drive 100 kilometres out to Lentang Forest Reserve, where lush jungles and rivers with whitewater rapids await adventurous travellers. Pack a picnic and chill out in one of the thatched-roof huts or embark on a hike along one of the trails.
