Perched at the northern end of the Dead Sea, Sweimeh is a small agricultural town in the Jordan Valley. It is mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible as the place where the Israelites camped on their journeys through the wilderness. Sweimeh’s proximity to the Jordanian beaches of the Dead Sea makes it a popular weekend destination.

Travelling with kids? Head to La Cueva Aqua Park, a family-friendly leisure facility with swimming pools to suit all ages. You can whizz down one of the many water slides, explore the colourful playground or relax beneath one of the shade canopies. In addition to a large Tyrannosaurus rex spurting water, there are a handful of eateries where you can dine throughout the day.

You can take advantage of the barbecue facilities and picnic areas or explore along the horse and camel-riding trails. After your visit, you can get behind the wheel of one of the go-karts at Adventure City Deadsea.
For a unique bathing experience, head to the Dead Sea Beach for an afternoon of floating in the saltiest water body on Earth. With a salt concentration of up to 34%, the water is so dense that your body becomes more buoyant than usual. Don’t forget to lather on the mineral-rich mud that covers the shore and is believed to improve a variety of skin conditions.
