See ancient books, manuscripts and other literary artefacts at the Humanist Library of Selestat. Founded in the 15th century by a German scholar, the library is listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register and home to some of the most important cultural treasures in France. While the collection is ancient, the building is modern and was designed by famous French architect, Rudy Ricciotti.
Walk through lush wetlands and deciduous forests in Illwald. The nature reserve borders Selestat and is home to one of the largest wild deer populations in France. There’s also a chance to see beavers, kingfishers and other wildlife.
