Scheveningen has been awarded Blue Flag status and never fails to draw a crowd on a sunny day. There are several beaches to choose from, including Boulevard Beach lined with cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. The beach next to Scheveningen Harbour is quieter and great for families.
From May to September, Scheveningen hosts a variety of family-friendly events. Enjoy beach volleyball tournaments, outdoor music concerts, food festivals and more. Scheveningen Pier juts out into the North Sea and features a 50-metre-high Ferris wheel where you can enjoy sweeping views over the resort. As you walk along the pier, you’ll be tempted by stores selling gelato, pancakes and candy floss.
With 45 aquariums to discover, SEA LIFE Scheveningen immerses you in a colourful underwater world. Marvel at more than 150 species of fish, get up close with playful sea otters and say hello to friendly Humboldt penguins.
Sculptures by the Sea is set around a historic royal pavilion built in the 19th century. The park is dotted with beautiful sculptures, including a bronze monument that pays tribute to the Dutch royal family. Other highlights include a piece by famed Dutch architect, Wim Quist.
Getting around Scheveningen
Scheveningen is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The neighbourhood is a 10-minute drive from The Hague city centre or 20 minutes by bus. Parking is available across Scheveningen and Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a 30-minute drive away.
