The A8 highway passes through the town, with Sarnen Station offering regular services to Interlaken and Lucerne. Basel and Zurich are the closest airports, with the drive to each taking one hour.
In addition to its charming historic buildings, archaeologists have confirmed that the Sarnen valley area has been inhabited since the Stone Age. Sarnen is a great base to explore some of Switzerland’s most popular winter sports regions and is less than a one hour drive from Melchsee-Frutt, Mörlialp, the Panoramawelt Lungern, Engelberg and Meiringen-Hasliberg.
