Rho has an impressive history as one of the oldest towns in Lombardy. It's now become a major part of the Milan metropolitan area and is dominated by the Fiera Milano, one of the world's largest and most significant exposition centres. Although inaugurated ten years earlier, Fiera Milano caught the international eye when it hosted the 2015 World Expo. Located 14 kilometres north-west of Milan City Centre, Rho is well connected and home to many fantastic restaurants and cafes.
Rho is most famous for Fiera Milano, a vast exhibition space in the centre of Rho and sights of the 2015 World Expo. Milan is Italy's business and economic capital and most of its expos are hosted here, including the New Milan Trade Fair and the biennial MADE Expo, widely regarded as the world's most important trade fair for architecture, construction and building. Sculptures and free exhibitions are usually found at each of the Fiera Milano entrances, and there's always a wide array of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
The exhibition centre has a dedicated metro and railway station, Rho Fiera, and many bus routes also link Rho with Milan City Centre.
Fiera Milano fills most of Rho and is almost the same size as the original town, which dates from the Roman Empire. Over the years Rho has always prospered through trade, from its time as a free state in the Lombard Kingdom to becoming the area chosen for the World Expo 2015.
