Overlooking the Black Sea, Ravda is a Bulgarian coastal resort known for its golden beaches and family-friendly attractions. It lies just a stone’s throw from popular Sunny Beach and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed landmarks of Nessebar.
If you’re visiting in the summer months, you can refresh with a swim at South Beach, a golden sweep of sand with beach umbrellas and sun loungers for rent. At the eastern end of the beach is a children’s playground, a table tennis table and chess boards, while several restaurants offer dining accompanied by Black Sea views.
Ravda makes an ideal base for exploring the cobblestoned old town of Nessebar, which is clustered with beautifully preserved stone houses dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Marvel at the arched windows and mosaic floors of the 5th-century ruined Church of St. Sofia before seeing the frescoes and altarpiece of the Church of St. Stephen.
Getting there
Ravda is a 30-minute drive from Burgas and 20 minutes from Burgas Airport, which has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses connect from Burgas, Sunny Beach and Nesebar to Ravda while the village is small enough to explore on foot.
