Nestled within the centre of the Sharon Plain, along Israel’s stunning coastline, Ra'anana, is known as the “Pearl of the Sharon”. What began as small settlement of New Yorkers is today a thriving forward thinking “Green City”, with its proliferation of parks, gardens and pristine beaches.
Things to do in Raanana
The largest urban park in the Sharon Plain, Ra’anana Park is a green oasis with vast expanses of lawn and tree-lined bicycle paths surrounding a clover-shaped lake. Within the park, you can visit Ra’anana Zoo, see a live performance in the Ra’anana Amphitheatre or admire local art at Gallery by the Lake, housed within a glass pavilion.
Spend the day swimming, surfing or sunbathing at Arcadia Beach, one of Israel's most popular beaches. Discover wonderful white sand, terrific diving locations and a lap swimming pool 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Ra’anana. The promenade is also lined with luxury resorts, restaurants and reggae bars.
Looking for some retail therapy? Ahuza Street is the main thoroughfare in the city and is known as the “shopping hub” of Ra’anana. You can find everything from fine jewellery at Pandora to designer dresses at Studio Alma. For a refreshing break, head to JEM’s Beer Factory, which specialises in handcrafted ales, or Kazan Brasserie for a taste of modern Jerusalem.
Learn about the city’s history with a visit to the Yad Le Banim House cultural centre on Ahuza Street. Explore the First Room Museum, which uncovers the history of Ra’anana from when the first settlers arrived until the local council formed in 1936.
Getting Around
Walking around Ra’anana is easy due to the compact size of the city. You can also ride in air-conditioned buses down the main Ahuza Street. Buses can also take you from central Ra’anana into the bustling city of Tel Aviv in approximately one hour.
