One of the largest suburbs of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Plymouth has been inhabited by the Dakota people since the pre-Columbian period. The guide and explorer Antoine LeCounte settled here in 1852, with the town eventually established on the north-west shores of Parkers Lake. It has recently been recognised as one of the top cities to live in in the United States, partly due to its abundance of parks.
Things to do in Plymouth
Hugging the north shore of Medicine Lake is Clifton E. French Regional Park, which is a popular spot for swimming and fishing in the summer months. You can stretch your legs along one of the walking trails or let the kids run free in the large playground. In the far north of Plymouth is Eagle Lake Regional Park where you’ll find biking and cross-country skiing trails, as well as a youth-oriented golf centre.
Another of Plymouth’s recreational destinations is Parkers Lake where you can swim in the summer months and ice skate in the winter. Golfers of all ages and abilities can practise their swing at the Parkers Lake Golf Center, which boasts a full-length outdoor driving range. Tennis courts are also available at the Parkers Lake Community Playfield.
If you’re looking for something to do on a rainy day, head to the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, which boasts multiple trampolines, a ropes course and a challenging obstacle course. Young kids will love the Tubes Playground while older kids can test their skills in the Slam Dunk Zone. Dodgeball games and fitness classes are also held here throughout the week.
