Backed by the Troodos Mountains, Pano Lefkara is an atmospheric Cypriot village with cobblestone streets and traditional stone houses. It’s famed for its silver filigree and lace embroidery, a time-consuming craft that has been designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Don’t miss a visit to the Local Museum of Traditional Embroidery and Silversmith, which explores the village’s history of folk needlecraft and filigree silver. Learn about Leonardo da Vinci’s trip to Cyprus in 1481 and his discovery of Pano Lefkara’s embroidery designs, which were incorporated into the tablecloth decorations of the “Last Supper”.
Nearby is the beautiful Church of the Holy Cross, which was originally built in the 14th century. Topped by a 19th-century bell tower, it is renowned for its wooden iconostasis crafted in 1760 and a gold-plated cross depicting the life of Christ. In the treasury, you’ll find precious religious paintings and sculptures.

Pano Lefkara is around 30 minutes’ drive from Larnaca and Larnaca International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe and the Middle East. Renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to Pano Lefkara and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
