Want to learn about Nevsehir’s local history? Visit the Nevsehir Museum to discover beautifully preserved Bronze Age pots, Phrygian ceramics and ancient Ottoman artefacts. Upstairs you'll find interesting displays on local Cappadocian ethnography.
Nevsehir is a fantastic base for exploring the enchanting landscapes of Cappadocia, famous for its fairy chimney rock towers, with some towering 40 metres high. Cappadocia's signature experience is gliding over the countryside in a hot-air balloon. Sunrise flights are very romantic, with most featuring champagne toasts and buffet breakfasts.
Just 20 kilometres from Nevsehir, the Heritage-listed Goreme Open-Air Museum opens a window into Cappadocia's ancient past. It's dotted with Byzantine churches, chapels and monasteries carved into the hillsides.
The famous Rose Valley loop trail offers some of the best views in Cappadocia. Along the way you'll pass by rock-cut churches, silvery orchards and teetering fairy chimneys. While Cappadocia's fairy chimneys are enchanting, what lies beneath is just as incredible. Part of the Nevsehir Province, Derinkuyu Underground City features seven storeys of caves, caverns and tunnels.
Getting around Nevşehir
Nevsehir is small and easy to get around on foot, while local "dolmus" minibuses run throughout the city and to nearby Cappadocian villages. Rental cars are also a great way to explore Cappadocia. Regional flights touch down at Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport, located 20 minutes away.
