Things to do in Murray
Alongside the downtown area is Murray Park, a popular recreational green space traversed by Little Cottonwood Creek. It’s home to a large wooden sculpture of Chief Wasatch and the Joan M. Hardle Memorial Arboretum with its themed gardens and seasonal flower displays. Also within the grounds is an aquatics centre, a 3,000-seat baseball stadium and an indoor ice-skating rink.
South of Murray is the Wheeler Historic Farm, a 30-hectare farmstead listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to its adobe residence and 19th-century outbuildings, it encompasses a blacksmith shop, a general store and an amphitheatre. Tour the Victorian farmhouse and watch the milking demonstration or enjoy a wagon ride around the property.
Golfers can book a round at the Mick Riley Golf Course, which features nine holes, plus a practice area and driving range. Alternatively, you can develop your skills in the virtual reality setting of the Golf Cove. It uses state-of-the-art Trackman technology that allows you to play hundreds of iconic golf courses around the globe.
Getting around Murray
Murray is around 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Salt Lake City and 20 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, which has flights to destinations across North America. Regular trains connect to the Murray Central railway station and buses travel throughout the city, connecting most of its attractions.
