Kenting National Park is set on the Hengchun Peninsula and combines sandy beaches with dramatic mountain scenery. In the Kenting Forest Recreation Area, you can venture into limestone canyons and caves hidden among towering banyan trees. Paradise of Deer gets you up close with dozens of beautiful Sika deer. Native to East Asia, Sika deer have a spotted coat and velvet-covered antlers. Hand feed your favourite animals and pick up cuddly deer toys from the souvenir shop. There’s also a family-friendly café where you can enjoy tea and cake.
Gangkou Suspension Bridge commands sweeping views over the Philippine Sea. The pedestrian-only bridge spans over the emerald-green Gangkou River and takes you to Diaoqiao Wetland Park. Explore the scenic trails and watch for hermit crabs scuttling along the beach.
Every year from September and October, red-bellied eagles and grey-faced buzzards migrate through Manzhou Township. Birdwatchers flock to the Hengchun Peninsula to watch the phenomenon and see the majestic birds up close.
Getting around Manzhou Township
Manzhou Township is located on the southern tip of Taiwan, a 1.5-hour drive from Kaohsiung City and two hours from Tainan City. Rental cars offer the freedom to explore Manzhou Township at your own pace. Local buses run between Tainan City and Manzhou Township in around 3.5 hours and Kaohsiung International Airport is a 1.5-hour drive north.
